Lead. Inspire. Transform. Learn how to strategically and effectively lead an academic or clinical department, center, division, or team. The GW School of Medicine & Health Sciences is partnering with Academic Impressions, a national leader in higher education leadership training, to bring a leadership institute to our campus this fall.
The theme is “Leading and Influencing” and the institute will be held October 18-20, 2018, in the Elliot School of International Affairs. Training will include practical skills for leading and inspiring your teams. Educational sessions will address such topics as:
Developing a vision and setting strategic goals
Handling challenging situations in higher education
Motivating and mentoring colleagues
Dealing with difficult colleagues
Setting and managing performance expectations
Facing and overcoming crises
Cultivating your strengths as an influential leader
Shaping a positive work environment
This leadership institute is designed to grow your leadership capacity and strengthen your ability to influence others. Seasoned executives have designed and will lead the curriculum, which is targeted for department chairs, division chiefs, center directors, and other higher education faculty or professional staff overseeing teams. GW faculty and senior leaders will join a talented team of leaders with more than 50 years of administrative leadership experience to deliver the curriculum.
The School of Medicine and Health Sciences is bringing this exciting professional development institute to our campus to save time and money for our leaders. Avoid travel-related expenses and benefit from special discounted pricing for members of the GW community including faculty or staff leaders from any area within GW. The same benefits are extended to GW’s clinical affiliates, the GW Medical Faculty Associates, GW Hospital, and Children’s National Health System.
