Pediatric Global Health Education: Global Child Health Course
The Introduction to Global Child Health Course is offered biannually. Sponsored by the Children's National Hospital Pediatric Residency Program and Global Health Initiative (GHI), it is intended for pediatric residents but is also open to all Children's National and non-Children's National fellows, residents, faculty, nurses, staff, and students. The course is organized around issues central to global health topics and principles, and includes a dynamic line-up of presentations and speakers from our Children's National GHI leaders and local entities such as USAID, Save the Children, JSI, Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland, and Georgetown University.
- Prepare participants for future international elective experiences or work in low and middle income country settings
- Examine global health issues including health care delivery, policy, disease management and resource allocation
- Recognize, diagnose and manage common illnesses and tropical diseases seen outside the U.S.
- Provide exposure to local health care professionals working in the fields of global health research, policy and clinical care
