In 2017, Children's National Health System and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) formed a partnership to focus on pediatric studies of significant interest to investigators at both institutions. This collaboration was framed and supported through an NIAID supplement to the CTSA-funded Clinical and Translational Science Institute at Children's National (CTSI-CN), which was awarded to Children's National and The George Washington University by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS). In addition to conducting those studies, Children's National and NIAID will offer joint training opportunities for investigators interested in studying and caring for children with infections, immunologic, allergic, and auto-inflammatory diseases.
The annual Children's National – NIAID symposium is a wonderful day of interactive learning featuring brief highlights of the studies being conducted under this partnership, key talks around rare disease and genomics, distinguished guest speakers, a dynamic panel discussion, and a poster session.
This year, the symposium will be held on November 8, 2019 at the NIH Natcher Conference Center.
