Want to learn how to make a 'not so basic' website? Drupal is a free and open-source Content Management System (CMS) that allows organizing, managing and publishing your content. This reliable and secure CMS is built on the PHP programming language and powers millions of applications and websites. Learn the basics of Drupal to create a blog or a website with ease.

Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS is recommended for working with Drupal, but will not be required for this workshop.

Participants will leave with a beginner level of expertise in building websites using Drupal. They will understand what a content management system is and when one might want to use one; be able to install a working Drupal development site; and will be able to create a basic page in Drupal.

A development server capable of running PHP and MySQL, such as Acquia Dev Desktop or XAMPP is required for the workshop.

This workshop is part of the CREATE a Multimedia Masterpiece series for those interested in expanding their knowledge of the tools and processes for creating professional videos, podcasts, social media content, video games, or other interactive experiences. Workshops in this series are sponsored by the CREATE Digital Studio , located on Gelman's first floor. The CREATE Digital Studio provides the equipment and expertise to facilitate effective digital communication, whether in person or online.
